Wrestling through Adversity: Empowering children, teens and young adults to succeed in life

Oakland, NJ – (EuropeNewswire.net) — Parents seek practical ways to help children manage stress, anxiety and growing performance pressure. Schools continue to grapple with rising levels of student stress and emotional wellbeing challenges. In today’s demanding environment, young people need emotional strength, resilience and personal responsibility.

“Our youth need tools that empower them to face life’s difficulties head-on,” Silverstein said. “Rather than relying solely on medication, we must equip young people with lifelong skills that build mental fortitude and support long-term success.”

These skills, known as Mindful Toughness®, include breathing techniques, relaxation, positive self-talk, mental rehearsal and self-regulation strategies. When introduced in childhood and adolescence, these foundational skills can be reinforced by parents, teachers and coaches.

Drawing on decades of experience in nursing, coaching and behavioural health, Silverstein presents practical methods to help children manage stress, cope with adversity, maintain focus during everyday challenges and build lasting resilience.

Silverstein emphasises that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) should be recognised as early warning signs. When stress and trauma are addressed early, children are less likely to experience lasting emotional and performance-related barriers later in life.

“As much of the brain’s development takes place during the earliest years of life, proactive, skills-based approaches become especially important — particularly for children experiencing chronic stress or limited access to support,” the author says. “Adults play a critical role in modelling emotional regulation, resilience and healthy coping strategies during stressful times.”

Originally published in US English, Wrestling Through Adversity became an Amazon bestseller and received several awards, including a Gold Medal for Social Impact from the Hustle & Heart Book Awards, first place in the audiobook category at The BookFest Book Awards, and the Parenting and Family award from the Independent Press Awards.

Medical and mental health professionals have endorsed the book as a practical resource for parents, caregivers and educators seeking evidence-informed approaches to supporting young people’s mental wellbeing. The book also explores how organised sports programmes, including wrestling, can help build character, resilience and life skills that extend well beyond the playing field.

The Arabic edition of Wrestling Through Adversity, titled مصارعة عبر الشدائد, is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G6QV9SHT
